Science is truth. We're going to use the power of fossil fuels to mine and refine and create scientific solar panels which we'll then put on gigantic cargo ships to send all around the globe so they can then be placed on land that has been strip mined of all flora and fauna so that they can stop working when clouds are overhead and when birds shit on them all the while driving up the energy costs of our ngubu infested smart city utopias. Capitalism and carbon is finally going to get Thanos snapped out of existence. BOOM!

they didn't need to exaggerate. global warming is real, but it's not going to put Florida and Manhattan underwater. we'll lose some coastline and the weather will be more unpredictable - more violent storms, heavier flooding, colder and snowier winters. Bangladesh will probably get heemed by a cyclone again. shitty part will be mass migration driven by food insecurity and retarded politics

a carbon tax on the oil and gas industry isn't entirely retarded. funds could've gone towards developing nuke, or just anything useful. instead Trump put a halt on it for 20 more years and lowered government royalties on leased federal land and waters. have no idea why the oil and gas industry needed that. they're plenty profitable already

It's also not Floridaman's fault.
China, India and the US make up 50% of the worlds carbon emissions as the top 3 contributors.
China on it's own is more than half of that, and it's been on a meteoric rise over the years.
Americas emissions have been dropping by 10s of %s, China and Indias are going up by 100s of %s despite China already causing more than twice as much as America to begin with.
Nothing America does matters. Soon India will surpass it into the 2nd biggest pollutant. American polution is inconsequential at this point, let alone the rest of the western world being told they need to settle for a worse quality of life.

Global warming is real and none of the larp the West does is anything but needlessly making life worse for it's residents.

Those taxes were never going to go toward nuclear power and you know that. It's all a scam to siphon money.
The fact they've been Chicken Little-ing about this for decades and refused to switch to nuclear showed their true cards. That and all the beachfront property being bought by elites.
I don't deny the climate changes, I just don't believe their apocalyptic gobbledygook.

China's emission levels will probably keep rising for the next five years, but they've at least been building a lot of renewable generation. more out of necessity than anything I'd guess, but i could see their carbon emissions start to decline within the next 10 years. that country can throw up a lot of shit really fast. India would need a lot of foreign pressure to change

they could light the money on fire. if the tax incentived the oil and gas industry to address carbon emissions resulting from their operations it'd be a win I think

True, the problem is self-correcting

The global population will be < 1 billion by the end of this century and it'll be alright.
Of course, it's not going to happen peacefully, but that's fine.

More like human beings are horribly inept at noticing long term change. Florida is (unfortunately) not underwater but the incrementals aren't going away and by the time it becomes actually horrible you will not be able to turn back the damage done. Fucking hell it takes like 15 years to even think about building a nuclear power plant the world is so done by the time people get their shit together.

You need to update your marketing spiel firmware, they're getting grants to put photovoltaics on farmland and other green belt areas now, which is strange because grass itself sequesters lots of CO2 and also why go in on solar when they also want to dim the sun. Science is awesome though

Laughing stock of the century.

All it proves is that people will do massive amounts of mental gymnastics to not consider the fact that the sun and the solar system have more effect on the climate than any other man-made thing in existence.

Climate change and all of its policies are just flatnout grifting and scams. Sorry.

A good documentary though if you want to see how all of these Scare Tactics turned out to be nothing burgers.

Does anyone have a legitimate argument against free energy? You could slap a bunch of panels over parking lots and they'd pay for themselves. You'd have to do some mining for the materials but it'd be way less destructive than fossil fuels in the long run. I understand that I'm replying to a polbot/mossad glowie but whatever.
