There is some in there. One thing that immediately comes to mind is The Last Kingdom which they produced with BBC for the first two seasons before taking over and they didn't start fucking it up until the fifth season and film (with shit like the attached).

It's actually one of the smarter TV shows.
The teen stuff is just the dressing.
Beyond that it's a decent whodunnit with a lovingly-crafted world which shows through the set-design, costumes, and writing.

If you're the kind of person who thinks Wednesday is a show for kids and simultaneously thinks 99% of tv shows also aren't for kids (white lotus, game of thrones, euphoria, american horror story etc are for literal kids who thinks intrigue and sex = maturity) then you don't really know what adults enjoy.

Whodunnits exist already in a class above relationship drama intrigue-slop because it takes more creative effort to craft a satisfying whodunnit (Poirot, Jonathan Creek), than it is to just write a bunch of selfish greedy people being sociopathic and evil plotting each other's demise and pouting at each other, injecting sex into everything, or actionslop about beating people up with fists,guns, or swords.

Stories where people mature and find their place in society (coming of age, bildungsroman) are some of the most mature stories you can tell because they tap into what it means to be an adult just as much if not more than orher genres.

Your favourite show is probably slop compared to Wednesday season 1.

One type of conflict isn't inherently more mature than any other, because they're conflicts we face in different guises at all walks and stages of life.

Thematic depth I suppose is the governing factor between something for kidss vs something for adults, but what's a show with really deep thematic depth? I think all and most mainstream shows already don't qualify.
