Why does /tv/ suddenly hate Indians so much now?
I get the whole "poo in loo" thing has been around for a while, but it seems like pajeet and saar has become their default insult now. What happened to make them all target Indians specifically?

Only about a third of the way through. So far it seems to be showing a lot of the craziness of summer of love, masking etc, but also seems to be painting anyone skeptical as conspiracy theorists. my trust in movies like this falteres because it's usually got some huge "message" about how the left was right about everything and there's going to be some twist that shows it... not looking forward to being preached to again. However the dad saying to his son "are you a fucking retard? You're white!" About blm shit was pretty hilarious. We'll see where in lands in a couple hours

Downloaded the 4K HDR rip last night at like 4am, got high as fuck and dove in. Probably my favorite Ari Aster film. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending but did appreciate how Lynchian the last thirty minutes or so felt. The final “showdown” was great and Aster was at the top of his game when it comes to story telling. Really loved the part where, after shutting the mayors music off, joaquin’s character walks past a guy who is wearing a mask but is staring him down and looking obviously creepy only for you to realize it’s the guy the mayor apparently “works for” according to the sign on joaquin’s psyop mobile that falls off. So many little moments like that, great shit.

It's funny, I read the scripts to Eddington and Weapons when they were both posted here months ago and I preferred the Weapons script out of the two. Yesterday I watched both Weapons (in IMAX) and Eddington (downloaded the WebRip last night) and I actually preferred Eddington out of the two movies. It just goes to show how a movie is execution dependant. I also felt that Eddington looked better and was more cinematic-looking (maybe thanks to having Darius Khondji as DoP) than Weapons, despite Weapons apparently having a bigger budget. I guess it boils down to Ari Aster being a better director.

We'll I finished it a bit ago. I don't think it's rewatchable because of all the tonal shifts, but not nearly as bad as Beau is afraid in that respect. While it's focused on the summer of love and utilizes politics for its impetus, it doesn't clearly pick a side here and drives forward with the usual Ari Aster narrative... which can be annoying to sit through when you're just starting to get hooked on a particular plot point that gets killed off for another. Enjoy for a single watch. Not a kino, not a flick, not great, not terrible

Like with Eggers flicks, these tricks work better with horror. The moment you try to do comedy or satire with it, it becomes annoying.

His dad is a "dick", that's the joke. They had a 30 minute play as a set up to a joke that Beau has never had sex. That's also a joke. It's very surreal metamodern humor. It's a legitimate shitpost film with a big budget. I respect it, Aster is a real filmmaker.
>>213618999 (OP)
>>213625636
Aster is an interesting guy, he looks like a Reddit mod, but the literal point of the film is all sides are controlled meticulously by the powers that be. A nutty conspiracy theory online, 'George Soros sponsoring BLM killer extremists to go in a kill cops and cause chaos across the world' ends up being true. It's a pretty surreal film. A kid who shoots the extremists ends up "saving the cop" becoming an online grifter, all of which he was doing just to get laid. Joaquin's character being a stand up guy who snaps and becomes a villain, his heart is in the right place, but he ends up being a murderer who is then framed as a hero due to social media via the henchman who want the data center built in the first place who just need a puppet. The mom of his wife who is a conspiracy nut is fully bought out by the exact people in power who wanted the data center built, she still spews her conspiracy theories while cutting Joaquin's hair, while she's standing in the backyard of a house paid for by the exact people she hates. The main character's love of his life ends up leaving him for an online grifter with no original ideas who ends up stealing his wife's art pieces and uses it in his campaign of brainwashing, the exact bullshit story he made up and said he escaped from. And to put salt in the wound, she's pregnant, the only thing Joaquin wanted. The film captured the dread of doomscrolling extremely well too. I say it's easily Aster's best film. We really have no clue what's going on anymore. The phone and the internet is all curated to fuck our heads up as much as possible.

However, I think Austin Butler's character sincerely believes in his story even though it is obviously not true. "Memory Resurfacing" via hypnosis has fucked up a lot of people.
