Another fun fact: Of the 16 million German men who served in the Wehrmacht and SS in WW2 12 million surrendered and Germany never had a relevant post-occupation resistance movement of any kind when even places like Ethiopia and Albania managed to have one

The only other occupied state with this level of subservience was Japan, but that at least had their deified Emperor tell them to stand down. Hitler meanwhile told the Germans to fight to the last, and they all ignored it and collaborated with their occupiers to the fullest extent possible

My favorite part of the war was when elements of the SS Charlemagne, Nordland, and several Baltic SS units all rallied their remnants together outside of encircled Berlin, and then broke into the city to participate in it's hopeless defense. And then the crazy bastards broke back out and busted west to surrender to Western forces.
Btw, did you guys know that a ton of the guards at Nuremburg were Baltic SS that were all camped out in the forest together and then employed by the Allies as guards?

True Goring turned himself in after being expelled from the nazi party by Hitler for backstabbing him. He thought if he turned in Hitler he'd get a better deal for himself. When it was clear that the death sentence would still go through he 41%'d.
