If Silence of the Lambs isn't horror, then Weapons is DEFINITELY not horror.
Honestly, they're both thrillers. Weapons just tries to mix several genres into that at the same time.

I watched Mark Kermode's review of this and it was all about him trying to interpret the flying gun as symbolic of the movie being about a school shooting and the adults grieving over the kids who died in the shooting

biblical/biological/WKUK etc SO many references stuffed into the first half of the movie that's why it's so interesting trying to puzzle out what's going on before the movie deflates everything and says "IT WERE MAGIC"
