>>213650544 (OP)This enduringly popular comedy features a strange mean streak for a story thatโs supposed to be about mistreated outsiders. Itโs filled with homophobic and racist jokes, along with an entire subplot about the nerd fraternity getting revenge on a sorority that was mean to them by raiding their house and spying on them with hidden cameras. It culminates with the leader of the nerds disguising himself as a popular girlโs boyfriend and then having sex with her under false pretenses. (She, of course, immediately falls in love with him, despite his deception.)
A remake was attempted in the mid-2000s, but the project fell apart right before cameras rolled. Thatโs probably because the only way this movie works in the 21st century is as a gritty reboot that critiques the whole notion that nerds deserve women, fame, success just because they had to contend with a couple of rude jocks.
