They will never do a proper adaptation since there is plenty of nudity of all sorts. Also, you know, the whole great white hero thing.

these people are so desperate that even the lowest form of brand recognition warrants a new show/movie

Just watched the slopkino disney movie the other day. That actor is so good, loved him in true detective and he was awesome in this too. Wish they'd do another adaptation with him but I am kind of curious about the story generally as well, I'll probably check the show out.

Man that movie was such a disappointment to me. I loved the original teaser trailer (still get goosebumps from it) and its tone but then the actual movie is Disney-fied slop. I hope we get a good adaption one day.

Besides the girl not showing enough skin, you have no right to call the Disney movie bad or slop.
It was a great movie in all metrics but marketing (and the girl not showing enough skin)
And MAYBE not having a recognizable theme.
All other metrics, acting, pacing, CGI, the plot, the twist, the fights, stakes, everything is absolutely 8/10 (minus no catchy main theme and not enough skin)

>hey let's take a series that has as much shut and violence as Conan and make it a tame ass made for TV tier slopfest

Not a misogynist but you could have cut all of the woman's dialogue with Carter and it wouldn't have changed anything. I zoned out whenever she started talking about rays or the contrived conflict between her and Carter and didn't miss anything in the end.

Anon, Im glad you like the movie but its plot and characters are weak and its a poor adaption of its source material in theme and style. Its a completely mid, lacklustre, exec designed movie. It has all the same issues of most of Disney's other live action content from around the same time (and after tbqh) like Prince of Persia - looks fine visually but its story is weak, themes underdeveloped, and ultimately "safe" adaption.

In a world where an adaption of Dune can become a box office success and critically highly regarded, there is no reason why A Princess of Mars can't get the same treatment. It takes approaching the material with a level of gravitas, understanding of its themes, and approaching its genre defining elements as strengths to be re-defined for the modern world. The Disney adaption completely missed the mark because its Disney-fied, watered down, and derivative.

It should absolutely look like that.
The emerging finding since Covid is that enshittified "everything is for everyone" media is a flop. Serving an audience that isn't everyone is the way to do things, its something globalised corporations are naturally opposed to but will have to rediscover.
The only low to medium budget films making real money at the moment are horror films because, not to my personal taste, but they still deliver what that niche audience wants. Why not do a T&A animation and differentiate yourself from the bucket of slop you'd otherwise sink into.

Reading Tarzan of the Apes right now. It's a really damn entertaining book.

It's current year. This will absolutely be worse than John Carter and likely aimed at zoomettes. You're crazy to entertain otherwise

Dune was a flop that no one talks about because Zendaya Coleman was forced into it as an epic girlboss.

Disney pretty much admitted they didn't marketed John Carter because they already got star wars at that point. And star wars is just john carter ripoff

The first three books are often bundled together. Just search for A Princess of Mars or Barsoom trilogy
