That's the point - everyone who has ever seriously studied the bible, or the torah, is aware of contradictions. And they are contradictions. Our priests taught us to be aware of them as well.
It gets even better when you decide to study theology and read the sources, not the translations. Then you notice that there are at least 4 different groups of authors for the books of Moses, and sometimes they even change from verse to verse. You can prove by analysing the source text alone that it wasn't written in one go, but had numerous alterations and revisions and was compiled over the course of several hundred years. The theory is that every revision worked in their own theological and political background of the time the copists lived in, and that lead to parts that contradict other parts.
I'm not the only one claiming this, it is pretty much accepted knowledge in the scientific community. Only those money-oriented "evangelical" churches that depend on brainwashing their flock still say it isn't so and that the bible is a "holy book".
