Great costume + set design that sells the 60s/70s London aesthetic as the comedy wouldn't work without it

They took the James Bond's goof formula, doubled down on it, and removed the boring parts (which is majority of Bonds run time). How could it fail.

>Why did the Austin Powers series succeed?

there was a time where parodies were made by people who actually enjoyed the things they were parodying instead of jealous seethoids who think they're misunderstood geniuses but have literally 0 talent

I'm not watching a new one so stop fishing for ideas. If you want someone here to write a script cough up money.

Mike Myers genuinely loved old British comedies/dramas and knew them inside out. That makes for a rich parody, rather than just trying any old random shit like The Love Guru.

>Mike Myers

Yes Austin powers was a hit because of the huge talent of mike Myers who had genuine respect for the time period he was parodying since he had grown up watching it on TV in a freezing Canadian basement. James bond was ancient history by the 1990s and there had already been many parody's of bond from James Coberns in like flint to Dean Martins Matt Helm to Don Addams in the Get Smart TV show. But those parodies were done in the 60 and Austin Powers was a parody of the 60s themselves.

fun, campy, lots of attractive women, no ambiguously gray judeo-morality, and virtually no brown people; i can't remember any at all outside of beyonce in the third one. they were made back when White people could make movies for their own amusement instead of mandated globoshlomo slop.

>mandated globoshlomo slop.

Austin Powers had obnoxious habits but he wasn't a spineless loser like many modern male characters.

I don't know if it's the female writers or what, but you see these "whiny, limp man" type of main characters more often these days in comedies. The so-called comedy comes from them being actual losers.
