it was back when people were allowed to create something good instead of something that panders to niggers, fags, and foids every 5 nanoseconds

Big budged movies were made to be actually epic and stand the test of time. These days movies are all shot in front of bluescreens while the script is being written so indians can smear VFX on it until it comes out. Marvel/DC/Star Wars were shitting out a multiple movies whiile there were like 3 years between all the Spider-Man/Pirates movies...

They're fun adventures with a whole catalogue of likeable characters and because half the effects were practical they look fucking fantastic. 1-3 were also pre-writer's strike.

No idea honestly

They literally don't make em like that anymore

The last true swashbuckling adventures. Absolutely littered with terrific performances, dialog, set pieces and of course, music

I watch 1-3 every couple of years and disregard the rest. It's an all time top trilogy. The first film is honestly as close to perfect as you can get. 2 and 3, if a little meandering in parts, is basically one long great film with an *incredible* crescendo in the maelstrom, and the resolution of the Davy jones plot.

The 'villians' are great throughout, with incredible arks. Norrington, Barbosa, Davy Jones, and of course, Cutler Beckett

Side note, the series manages to have two comedy double acts

They need to put a large sea monster in pirates 6 again

Pirates of the Caribbean was all about fun and adventure. Pirates, cursed treasure, sea monsters, pretty girls, cool swordfights, awesome old ship sets... it had everything. If they made it now it would be so fucking lame and gay.

Modern PotC:
>obligatory ex-slave pirate captain who leads a pirate ship that attacks slavers and is also probably a woman to boot
>ZERO cleavage or corsets
>no real boats even in establishing shots
>at some point somebody gives a speech about the evils of colonialism / imperialism
>ham-fisted references to famous real world people at every opportunity
