I expected the new SNW eppie to play on the La'an Spock Kirk love triangle but nope. As bad as it was, it was mildly fun to see Kirk on the bridge with Spock Uhura Chapel and Scotty. Episode bumped to a 4.5/10. It's no less fan servicey than PIC S3.

Watching Star Trek ship lore videos (Trekyards, Venom Geek etc) why do they keep saying "Oh it's a more manuverable design" in regards to smaller ships, when Star Trek ships are so astronomically manuverable and fast to begin with it's basically fucking magic?
The Enterprise can literally move in any direction along any axis at 100,000km PER SECOND. So does the defiant go 200,000km per second at impulse or something?
I know the show presents battles as being very close, and the ships as slow as submarines, but if you actually listen to the technobabble or look at the ship stats, reality is battle should be happening hundreds of thousands of kilometers away from eachother, and they basically should be zapping all around. This is why envasive manuvers, literally dodges phasers and lasers, moving at or near the speed of light, because the ships are fighting over huge distances, and they themselves are moving at rapid speeds.

That SNW episode was pretty cool but it didn't make a whole lot of sense and it ended too quickly and they defeated the legendary giant evil pirate spaceship too easily. and they didn't do enough with the premise, a lot of wasted potential. And Kirk's whole crisis of confidence was resolved too easily. In retrospect I think it probably wasn't a very good episode objectively but it was pretty cool.

it takes more energy to start and stop moving something with a lot of mass than it does something small. people tend to forget that ship combat in trek is just the navy in space. the enterprise is a heavy cruiser, the defiant is a destroyer, one is gonna be faster and more maneuverable, and the intent is that you can suspend your disbelief enough to apply it to space ships.

I felt like they rushed it.snw has two seasons to wrap it up. I think most sci Fi shows have really 5 good seasons. Tng, voy, ds9 all too 2 or 3 seasons to figure it out. Enterprise never really had a shot partially due to 9/11 changing the national mood. Disco had a season and half. Snw is been good since the start and really good since mid season 2. 3 is the best so far.

i watched through TNG twice before I watched the finale once. i didn't want it to be over so I just didn't watch All Good Things

Maybe of some of you are too young when enterprise was planned and first going it was meant to be very buck Rogers every man then 9/11 changed everything slowly and it turned into a season long revenge question then the arcs. It never really had a chance. Stuff like bsg took over.

I said in a previous thread but I do like how S3 has a stronger focus on sci-fi plots rather than comedy and parallel Earths like S2. The Tholian Web. That Which Survives. The Empath. All Our Yesterdays. But god damn some of it sucks/
