walter should have grown the fuck up and communicated more and if he was so unhappy, and if his wife wasnt ever gonna listen than he should have left. he was shown as deeply insecure and resentful while simultaneously egotistical because of his incredible mind for chemistry. when he was dating gray matter's wife he broke up with her and left her because she made him feel small because of her wealthy family and her own intelligence. thats why in his mind he "settled" for skyler, who is pretty sharp in her own right but from humble means. she made objectively correct calls in cleaning the money and running the business more effectively too, but walter always wants it his way because he can take credit and be THE BEST GENIUS EVER.
he also had ample opportunity to leave this life and to have money and stability outside of teaching or drug dealing, but deliberately chose not to because he wanted to live a dangerous, exciting and reckless life where he had full power and control built by himself while morally justifying it because its "for muh family" or "for muh cancer". he especially resented gray matter because again he felt like he deserved more and sooner - which is probably true - but was mad he was getting it as a "hand out."
and even if he could justify his idiocy in continuing the meth gig, even when he had an opportunity to sell it or for an intelligent reliable partner he deliberately sabotaged it, AGAIN, because of his own fucking ego and not being the one in control.
everyone in this serious sucks awful, but how people defend and see walter as a good guy is beyond me. i knew he was fucking scum from the first episode.
