If youre entire act is being edgy because you cant be funny you're not going to last long, especially when youre imagined restrictions are lifted and you cant claim oppression or censorship anymore.
The best example I can think of is howard stern. A huge part of his brand was his battles with the FCC, dancing around broadcast standards and collecting fines like trophys. When Hoo Hoo went to satallite and could say and do whatever he wanted it lost a huge amont of its humor.
Another good example is Carlos Mencia, who's unfunny edgelord mexican gimmick couldnt fill the shoes of the very funny Chappelle show, which crutched itself less on being offensive and more on being funny

tl:dr: be as edgy as you want but you still have to be funny, otherwise youre just a /b/tard with a microphone, and being 'cancelled' is not a marketing strategy for weak jokes.
