He mentioned right before that the alien could literally sense and was drawn to fear which is what roused it and led to it killing the soldiers. It was trying to read if cyborg dude was human/killworthy by sensing fear right next to him and in that moment he completely steeled himself of emotions (but almost breaking). And it was enough for it to then be instead drawn to the other soldiers to come running in and opening fire.

Just watched the first episodes, is it me or is the whole vibe... off? Sometimes the scenes and editing are just weird, they put humor where they shouldn't, the pace is all over the place, I just can't take this seriously.
The Alien is just a plot device, it doesn't feel central to the story, the whole thing is very "video-gamey".
Like that black droid from the vessel with his cocoon gun not immediately grabbing his gun the moment the Alien is busy killing the guys, and actually being afraid? I thought that guy was supposed to have no feelings?
That series is all over the place, feels very cheap, like that drone footage in the corridors you can clearly tell the video quality is bad, amateurish.

This show is extremely weird because in terms of raw visuals and sound design, you could probably mathematically prove this is 100% the closest thing to the original movie, yet it feels absolutely nothing like it. Nobody feels convincing, even Timothy Olyphant feels off somehow, nothing really feels tense, the pacing of scenes and cuts undercuts the tension, and something about it is just fucking boring. I am really quite disappointed so far.

Yeah, the ship intro was nostalgic in a nice way. The film grading, sound design, instantly got me excited. The intro feels like an acceptable callback for once- because on every single ship in the galaxy I guarantee you the crew shoots the shit during breakfast, it felt like it was gonna be real perfect.

I think it was by the time you see the ship going down with Morrow having betrayed the crew that I began losing interest. Holes in the acting are immediate with Zaveri sounding mildly upset she's about to experience death by Xeno, Everything after that just feels like the showrunners said "there's been like ten Alien movies, we don't need to build up to anything because everyone knows what's coming!" Except the characters act like that, too. Nobody seems more than a little surprised over the presence of a giant alien killing machine, the show makes the presence of the Xeno in episode 2 feel like its just some middling environmental hazard that pops up so they can stop paying the extras, it feels boring.
