Because of The Other being represented by white people, and I don't mean it in an incel anti-woke way; if it was, say, an Asian tribe you could look at it through a "culture is relative" lens, but since you're not used to seeing "primitive" (i.e. violent) white cultures it's quite shocking. I really liked it when, like, halfway through the movie I realized there's nothing to be afraid of because it's just a culture and they fuck up only those who transgress against it and other than that they're pretty fucking wholesome and supportive towards those who deserve it, it was a really interesting experience.
