I've never gotten into Sanderson, he seems like some kind of autism black hole. Is that shit any good, there's always a hundred of his giant ass books in every store but I've never actually seen him mentioned or spoken of anywhere IRL.

Sanderson is the best fantasy writer ever if you ignore all the real classics people actually care about.

i read Way of Kings and it was good. The 2nd book is even better. then for some reason the 3rd book,l has multiple homofag characters. the MC no longer hates the bug people, the women side characters take over etc.

Mormon here. I don't think we've flip-flopped on any particular issue. Just some things are true in their time. Like when the church was established, there was a command to take multiple wives to help the church grow. It wasn't abandoned because revelation suggested God changed His mind or it suddenly became a bad thing, but that American persecution of the practice would destroy the church. The Edmunds Act stripped polygamists of voting rights and was seizing churches and temples. But there was never a renunciation of the practice of polygamy, just a willingness to follow the law of the land.

That's the point. God didn't say that polygamy is bad, nor does the church say it's bad. They stopped practicing it in the US because it's illegal there. There is no doctrine anywhere in LDS canon that condemns polygamy.

The same is true for all Christians though. You are obligated to stone a cheating wife to death. Why don't Christians do that in the US? Not because God changed His mind about the appropriate punishment, but because it's illegal here.

His dialouge was always kind of campy and gay, but in any of his newer stuff it gets turned up to 11 full blown redditor capeshit gatcha constant quiping. I dont think i'll bother to finish stormlight archive. Kind of sad because he has decent world building and i like his magic systems, but all of his characters just keep getting more annoying. Maybe it was always just fagslop from the get go.

Read TWOK and 1/3 through words of radiance.
TWOK has 3 good chapters. World building is Sandersons strongest skill. Rest is mostly filler, which is amazing considering there’s only 4 pov characters. 7.1 of 10.

A lot of people (on the internet) try really hard to find fault with him since he's gotten so popular. He's not a perfect writer by any means, of course. But overall his stuff is very good.

I read the first couple of storm light archive books years and years ago. They do a fantastic job of keeping you drawn in to keep reading. The only obvious fault I can think of is that he does the split protagonist every other chapter, and everything but the main plot line is horrendously boring.

They're definitely worth a read though. He has a ton of good insight about writing. He also shits out books at a truly insane pace but the quality holds.
