They've literally spelled this out for you on the show. Not saying the writing is great, but it is there. They "transferred" the minds of dying children into synthetics. Now we saw the process and it involves glowing lights and touching hands with no surgery so they didn't actually cut the brains out from the kids and put them into the synth bodies. It's mentioned that Wendy has her emotions "dampened" and that they can control her feelings to some extent. The only real emotions she experiences come when she's thinking about her brother, which is why Timothy Chalamet lets her obsess about her and eventually sends her and the others to rescue him. It's very expensive yes but he's a trillionaire and he wants to make sure that before he transfers brains into immortal bodies, that it's still "you" in that body because if you're just some robot patterned after someone with no emotions what's the point, you didn't really transfer their consciousness. It's like the teleporter question. He wants to make sure the kids have all the emotions and more that they would in human bodies. Also it's a chance to test them out in stressful situations, which life is full of, and undoubtedly there would be military applications to a bunch of soldiers who can't die.

The first Alien released 46 years ago, and since then we've had a dozen Alien movies and spin offs like Prometheus, on top of comics and games and books about it. And all them boil down to 'Remember Alien?!' in comparison, 46 years before Alien in 1979 movies had just started having actual recorded dialogue in them, then they went from black and white to color, then they went from being essentially filmed plays made on soundstage with a very melodramatic acting to highly realistic shot on location films with special effects films in 1933 couldn't even conceive of. If you showed someone in 1933 Alien it would've blown their minds, it was an unthinkable film to people 46 years before it was made. Compare to 1979 and 2025: not only have films not evolved or advanced in any appreciable manner, but in basically every regard they've actually regressed. Even CGI is worse looking than the practical effects employed in pre-1990s movies. And excepting the 1980s, nothing new or original was made between that Alien film and this one, just endless reboots rehashes reimaginings and sequels.

So yeah, characters 100+ years from now watching the same endless remakes of the same remake films we've been watching for 30+ years isn't that outlandish a concept. As technology homogenizes humanity and lowers IQs we'll see endless repeats of the same media we've seen a thousand times before. And before some retard chimes in with "muh AI", AI produced content will be even more insipid and generic because it can only copy the inputs given to it, it actually can't create anything new, so AI will simply reinforce the already creatively bankrupt media we're stuck with.

TLDR
People watching Ice Age in the future is not only plausible but almost a certainty due to cultural and technological stagnation.

It's always been kind of a silly plot device. The only reason that xenos are that big a danger is because the people dealing with them in Alien/Aliens (are there other movies? Idk.) were isolated and cut off. The only silly thing about Aliens was that like 12 marines were the only people on a fucking GIANT ship used to transport 1 single squad.
