First two movies showed they have hunter skills but were shit at covering tracks, it took many characters to die to catch on and understand the Predators movements, they were unlucky but their deaths allowed the main characters to learn and overcome the Predators themselves. Even in the Predators movie characters were using each others as bait to understand the Predators, it's a good tactic but again sucks for those that die.

Apparently Predators have long lives but they're still just flesh and bone, of course they can die too. "if it bleeds, we can kill it" - Dutch
