Exactly the type of simple minded reply I expected. First of all, there's no action in the movie until almost an hour in the total runtime, so if you think that makes it an action film but not a horror film despite the horror moments being more numerous, since the action scenes double as horror, then you simply don't know what you're talking about.

But let's look at things objectively for a minute here. The action scenes in Aliens are not your typical ones where the heroes are portrayed as being completely in control. Cameron employs a plot contrivance similar to the first film wherein the characters intentionally handicap themselves by having almost all of their ammo taken away from them as they venture into the nest because of the volatile reactor that then causes a meltdown resulting in the planet's eminent explosion that they have to escape from before it does, but simultaneously they still have to deal with the xenomorphs as well. The marines lose every single encounter with the xenomorphs from that point on and has to rely on automatic turrets to cull most of their numbers.

There are two chestburster scenes in the movie that serves to make the audience realize Ripley's trauma and for those empathetic to her character, this serves to instill a sense of horror in us. There's also a facehugger scene which is clearly another moment of horror albeit brief. Then there's a second facehugger scene where it tries to attach itself to Ripley and Newt and help from the marines is cut off because their room was locked from the outside. Ripley ultimately loses and just before the facehugger permanently attaches itself to her face Hicks comes along and saves her.

I could go on, but it's abundantly clear to anyone with a little bit of media literacy that the purpose of all of the suspense and action scenes are carefully crafted to instill a sense of fear in us.
