Modern Hollywood had the perfect oppressed to put in a fat chick (there are some that actually look good) in a lead role in the show.

Not only that but an actual canon black dragon rider, yet they chose the most offensive way to repent black people with the absentee father and gay dragon rider.

This show was very contrived, the characters kept making decisions just so that the writers could reach whatever design they had for the plot... or maybe I was just too dumb to understand it all.

When PhilosophyTroon showed up I clocked him as a man immediately and then realised who he was, and then I skipped all of his scenes. I always hated the writing for the Lannister character anyway so I'm glad I didn't need to watch them.

I found all of the on-the-nose sexism very cartoonish and wasn't sure if the writers were trying to make an allegory about real life. Sex (gender) and sexism as a theme sometimes played well in the writing, sometimes the writers used it well, but they really forced it in too much with unrealistic writing at other times, I don't know if it was because they felt like the original script was too nuanced and might (God forbid) be taken as anything other than one-sided. I guess that's how writers win awards and media praise these days. Even in the opening scene it layers on the "old white men are stupid" trope with the black guy refusing drink (black men are wise but white men are stupid in the new media) and the old white men blathering on and on.

I didn't mind all the black people unlike other people in this thread. I also think that Rhaenyra was very beautiful.

With all of the "woke" writing I question whether the violent and nasty birth scenes were partly because of the writers' politics and hating the idea of the continuation of humanity, worrying more about overpopulation, climate change, etc. It's like they want to scare young women away from the idea of having children. Many left wingers believe that so with all of the other progressive/propagandistic choices it makes me question this one too.

It's a shame that such production value and expertise went to waste on mediocre writing. There were some great scenes but with a lot of contrived stuff that deflated it between them.
