I recently saw the pilot after watching all seven seasons. It's quite bizarre how autistic everyone is.
But it's very fun REwatching the first season. TNG was a little baby taking it's first steps, and it wasn't pretty

You see, when you burn local you water at the roots. You seed where it needs sowing. You plant for tomorrow's shade. Burning local isn't about flexing - it's about feeling. You light that fire in you, and spread to your community. You burn local at the McDs, at the grocer, at the modest gay club. To burn local you have to get it on. It was a product of it's generation, no pun intended. I was 12 when TNG came out, in my late teens when DS9 hit, around 21 when voyager hit UPN. So it's still top tier television I love to this day.

Wife was born in 1996, so she's right on that line between Millineals and zoomers. She loves voyager, kinda hit and miss with DS9,doesn't care like TNG much but tolerates watching it with me cause I like it. She hates nu-trek and the JJ / Justin Lin reboot movies like most of us, tho.

Guess it more depends on what you grew up watching.

In a way, TNG was way ahead of its time. The emphasis on the Prime Directive is very similar to Chinese foreign policy. With China becoming the ascendant power, we can see what living under Federation rule actually looks like.

NTA, but its really very simple. Contains blacks, browns, leftist plot points, faggotry of any kind, women who are there for anything other than eye candy, subhumans painted in a positive light, anything that sounds like a Marvel quip and/or performative politics. Any of these things make a woke. Multiples of these things make unwatchable slop.

Riker always seemed like a superfluous bonus character. You only need one leader on the bridge; when there are two, they seem more like career rivals than partners. Possibly that's because Frakes is always trying to steal the show when the camera is on him.

TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY are all solid. If you have no exposure, probably DS9 or VOY are easier to 'get into' since they're a little more action-oriented, then work your way backwards after that if you want more.

ENT is pretty solid, but no longer really Star Trek as much as Quantum Leap in Space. Everything after that is the same soulless slop as Disney Wars.

The government's resources are nowhere near enough to deal with this, so they keep kicking the can down the road.
On top of that, their citizens have given up hope, and have resorted to "lying flat" and "letting it rot", and refer to themselves as the "last generation". Their population is actually shrinking; no one wants to give birth to a hostage.

| agree. Way more interesting than Crusher, and she actually had a mini-arc in season 2. She went from being a foil for Data, to actually appreciating and defending him. Crusher was just yawn, yawn, and yawn.
And who can forget the Dr Crusher "ghost lover" dreck episode? Even during the later peak seasons, TNG was all over the place with some great classics and then some instant skip episodes.
Very inconsistent compared to DS9.
I'd say even Voyager had less total shit episodes. Not the great highs of TNG, but fewer total shit episodes.
