I waited like ~8 years for S2 and then for some reason my interest just dissipated the moment it dropped. Anyone who loves S1 and has seen it -- how was it? The fact that we no longer have Hill or Gatiss already bothers me, then you have the blacked bullshit + everyone looks old and wrinkled and tired (naturally, since it took 10 fucking years for this to come together). Also I recall reading either the director's or the writer's stupid comments defending the blacking and how the author would've approved -- that was the last straw. I don't mean to sound like an obsessed chud, but given that in S1 so much attention was given to the tiniest details I had assumed the casting for S2 must be a sign of a general decline in quality and decided to stay away.

Actors ageing shouldn't really be a problem since the events covered fifteen years anyway.
The blacking is obviously retarded but not as distracting as what we have come to expect from the bbc (yes, low standards, I know)
Some of the recats are honestly for the better. The dickhead from Dr Who was worse cast as Stephen Gardiner than any nog in s2, the new guy had far more gravitas.
