This film was ruined by choosing to shoot in some anonymous shithole part of Louisiana instead of just setting it in tje correct time and place of Detroit in the 70's like the novel. It's not like it would have affected the monologue anyway, they could have used a Jimmy Carter campaign speech or whatever.
