No, I had the same opinion. Not great but not awful and worth watching. Missing laughs but comfy and compelling enough to be entertaining and doesn't depend entirely on nostalgia to be enjoyed.
I really hate Dale's voice though. I was astonished that actually was Johnny for the first six or so episodes. Kahn and Ted's new voices suck too but they were used sparingly.

Just use AI. Johnny should've just given his consent to be replaced by AI formed by his previous work that could only be used for King of the Hill and any owed residuals would be paid to his estate. I enjoyed it overall. It comes nowhere close to the greatness of early King of the Hill (I consider seasons 3 and 4 the show's apex), but it's about on par with the later seasons, which is fine. Some hits, some misses.

Only thing I really found offputting were the hamfisted references to modern culture. It felt like the boomer writers trying really hard to appear hip and relevant. It's especially forced in the first few episodes but not quite as bad as the season goes on.

They do a lot of really shady shit. Like ratings used to be standard from the Nielson system. People counted as watching if they watched a certain amount of minutes of a show. It was flawed but it worked to a good degree. Now, parrot analytics is involved with a much wider process. They track things like social media engagement and count viewing minutes when someone watches youtube or Facebook or Instagram clips of their content. So let's say someone links a clip of hank being woke here on 4chan to show us how gay king of the hill is. This counts as ratings now in the overall.

This is why these companies are nostalgia and woke baiting now. They know it drives reactions, good or bad, slop or not.

Parrot analytics is also in the business of manufacturing trends. They publish these bogus stats and are valuable to these companies because it's actually really useful to have a "trending" show. Other people will watch a trending show just because it's trending.

It's fine. The animation is horrendous and so is some of the voice acting. Lots of questions just left completely unanswered, not enough call backs to the original series. Doesn't mention Luanne or Lucky, doesn't mention Ladybird, I thought the season was gonna end without even mentioning Buck. No mention of how or why Hank accepted going to Saudi Arabia. No mention of what happens to Strickland propane. Connie is a pretty bad character in the revival. Bobby is still great. Hank is very "safe". Peggy is a complete cunt still but also just boring.

Why would Hank say this? Probably the worst, most out of character thing in this season. It's like a parody line.

I found ep 1 really hard to get into (it felt aggressively unfunny early on) but I enjoyed the rest of the season.
