Casino Royale was phenomenal. Best Bond movie in decades. Sharply-directed, well-written, well-acted, light on gimmicks. Exactly what the series needed at the time.
Quantum of Solace was a misfire but at least it followed logically from what was established in CR. The series could have still been salvaged at this point.
It was Skyfall that derailed everything. It didn't build on what was established in CR and QOS, but felt like another reboot. The overall style and writing made it a shameless knock off of Nolan's Batman movies. Craig had none of the charisma he had in the first two, but looked distant and uncomfortable. And honestly, he never left this funk.
Spectre was basically Skyfall 2, only trying (and failing) to connect it to CR and QOS with the flimsiest of retcons. The whole movie is weightless and has an aura of pointlessness about it. The filmmakers simply didn't know what they were doing.
No Time To Die tried to right the wrongs of Spectre, but the damage was done. It spends half its runtime tying up loose ends and the other half bumping off major characters, including it hero. The writing is all over the place, characters behave schizophrenically, and the ending is a giant cockslap to the audience. It's probably the biggest "WTF were they thinking?" sequel since Alien 3.
tldr: the Craig era started off brilliantly but ended up as the worst era of the Bonds.
