It's just not as drastic because he is still generally the same person with the same moral standing. His change is that he grows into his power and responsibility. At the start of the show they literally just fuck around for a few episodes without a care in the world until roku tells him to stop being a faggot and grow the fuck up because earth kingdom is going to burn to the ground when summer comes around. Even then, it still takes him a while to grow into his role as Avatar. He had a similar growth to Sokka. Zuko's was much more stand out because it directly involved him upending his entire life's goal to do what is right. His redemption was not just about his moral beliefs or his personal wants, but also breaking free from the control his psycho dad has over him. It's obviously much more poignant than aang's arc, but to say that aang doesn't change is just plain silly desu wa ne

The Avatar Netflix adaption was actually great, a very tasteful adaption that maintained the spirit and quirks of the original series and a good stand-alone series for families (kids and adults) to watch together. There really is almost no family shows or movies coming out like there was in the 90s and 00s.

It was very funny seeing superfans of Avatar (a cartoon intended for children) sperging out, claiming that the Netflix series is childish. I watched the cartoon and loved it as a kid, I rewatched the first season recently and it was way campier than I remembered. The fans are remembering this legendary series that doesn't exist

The netflix adaption overexplains character detail without showing their personalities properly, exposits way too much, and the worst part is that it changes the characters way too much and they become milk-toast boring. Gone is katara's firey personality where she gets mad and demands to fight paccu because he's being a bitch. No. She's just boring. Again, I think you are overanalysing the cartoon and transforming it into something it isn't. There’s plenty of tempo and midrange in yugioh. Invoked, Labrynth, and Monke Flip stun come immediately to mind. Granted the top tables don’t play these strategies, but if you go to locals you’ll find all types of decks represented. MTG players are just so mind broken by EDH format that they think any deck that searches is a combo deck, and under that definition any YGO deck is a combo deck.
