Get in here faggots, we're doing a comfy /sopranos/ post your memes
and what is the worst episode and why is it a hit is a hit?
columbus day parade was the most boring episode.
I'm only posting in this thread out of respect for my fawtha
>>213793732 (OP)My favorite episode was the one where the Esplanade finally finished construction.
>>213793732 (OP)this picture gets my 'tism because tony always had a gold day-date on a presidential and for this promo pic some prop idiot gave him a submariner on an oyster bracelet

>>213794206the gold day-date is tony soprano the same way the leather jacket, bowling shirt and heavy breathing are. there's only one picture of the character with a different watch because the prop director fucked up
>>213793732 (OP)we all know why
short answer: niggers. longer answer: not only niggers but the wannabe smart "I'm righting historical wrongs against my people" niggers
I'd say Kaisha is one of the worst because no one remembers anything about it except for carlo kicking a decapitated head down a storm drain. the whole chrissy AA plot was pretty weak
>>213794058The submariner was his own personal watch. The president was a replica.

I grew up with a lot of connected guys. Never made myself, but I knew everyone and everyone knew me. Sometimes they'd ask for a favor here and there and there'd be a little something in it for me. Here's what I'll say about Sopranos - the most true to life part of it was Vito. Every crew has a Vito. In fact, most have a couple Vitos. I'm talking pitching and catching and whole other sports. In prison and on the outside.
>>213796869The character is an unlikeable cunt ontop of the actor being entirely void of any acting talent and charisma.
A trifecta of awful.

Watching for the first time now. Started season 4 today. See you tizzuns in a couple months.
>>213803126Phil and Furio were basically the only characters who adhered to the code. Furio left rather than betray the hierarchy. Chris bemoaned that the code was absent but he didn't uphold it himself.
I guess you could say that's a bad end for Furio's arc but the whole show Furio represented some kind of pure specimen Italian Mafia from the old country and it would be a betrayal of who he is if he fucked Carmella. Like that was the whole point of the cooking montage to show how much more real he was than Tony.
>>213803481I get that but why the fuck couldn't he just tell Carmella to fuck off and stop showing up at his house all the time if he was so committed to the job? He nearly fucking killed Tony over the most mid piece of pussy in NJ.
>>213803138Yeah, but it didn't really matter because Ralphie mostly seemed to want to be rid of her. If anything he cucked Ralphie more with the horse, so if anything it's redundant.
One of the worst is Boca. The one where everyone's just into soccer. It's an embarrassing after school special.
>>213803562>why the fuck couldn't he just tell Carmella to fuck off and stop showing up at his house all the timeIt wouldn't have been as strong portrayal of his devotion if he wasn't tested both by Carmella showing up and almost killing Tony. Like they set it up pretty well about how he was exceptionally tested when his uncle told him that even he didn't pull shit like fuck the boss's wife.
I felt like one of the overarching themes of the Sopranos is that these Jersey guys are basically at the lowest point in the mafia and Phil and Furio basically failing shows that integrity doesn't really count for anything. Like John only had 5M in assets and you realize that none of these guys actually own casinos like in the old days.
>>213803481Phil was advocating for the deaths of multiple made men, he didn't follow the code any closer than anyone else on that show. He realized it was a ton of horseshit after he saw his old boss Johnny Sack admit in court that the mob was a real thing.
>>213803703Season 1 really felt clunky just because it was more light hearted and Chase wanted to capture the Goodfellas vibe. Didn't really find its footing until the second season

>>213793732 (OP)I just recently finished the show and it is not as good as people make it. Season 1 kind of sucks but its watchable 2-5 are good at times but mostly just the comedy that is unintentional half the time and season 6 is fucking terrible.
The dr melfi scenes existed in the first couple seasons just so david chase could have a shrink say "yes david your self insert mommy was bad to you" and they were also for real low iq people to go "ohhh I get it tony is a sociopath I couldn't pick that up from his actions". Every woman plot line was awful. Season 6 was one of the worst things ever put on tv. The first half with the coma dreams was fucking stupid and what wasn't that was just vito eating pancakes for 10 episode. Because they wasted so much time on coma tony and gay vito the second half of the season gives you whiplash cause like 100 major things happen with really no set up or payoff in 3 mins of on screen time a piece.
Tony has a gun charge nvm its dismissed, Paulies mom isn't his mom, hes mad nah nvm hes fine but he has cancer oh nvm its cured, Johnny sacks has cancer and now hes dead, The war with NY is finally here oh its over in 20 mins, aj is has a gf they are getting married nvm she left him for no reason now he tries the worst suicide attempt ever thought of, tony is in deep with gambling out of nowhere nvm he kills chris on a whim and now he magically wins every bet.
The entire second half of 6 felt like they had so much unused stuff and tried to cram it all in cause there are many more examples of shit shoehorned in where people just die off camera and then there is a 15 second funeral scene and never spoke of again and other shit
This weekend I'm gonna make some manigott. They just talk about it so fucking much. What does it go with?
Why did Tony drive such a large vehicle
>>213805394Tony Soprano is unironically the smartest character in the show. Aside from Tony B, maybe.
Sure he writes like a fourth grader and has criminal autism but aside from that, he is ALWAYS the first person to pick up on innuendo. Has a wry sense of humor, sometimes insults people without them even realizing. Its subtle at times but there are dozens of scenes where you can see his brain working at a mile a minute while stunads like Paulie or even average guys like John are twisting in the wind.
If you rewatch the series with that idea in your mind: "Tony is impulsive but is also a genius," everything will make 10x more sense.
>>213805885It's really gross unless you really really like ricotta cheese. It is just a giant tube of pasta filled with a shit ton of ricotta and a tiny amount of tomato sauce on top
>>213805799You get a pass for dominating a little prison femboy and busting loads in his ass. Man's gotta fuck something. Anyone who denies this has absolutely zero idea how gay men's only spaces are
>Prison>Navy>Boarding schools>Eastern MonasteriesIts insane. So yes, tony's right. You get a pass, you just shouldn't go around sucking cocks in broad daylight like a retard once you're out.
>>213805959It's supposed to be 3/2/1 cups Ricotta/Parm/Mozz isn't it? And parsley and basil? I have to look this up, it's been a while since I've had it
>>213805885Seriously the only assembled pasta italian dish you need to make is lasagna. Buy the Walmart Great Value noodles and follow the recipe. Instead of all beef use 50% ground sausage, the frozen kind in a log; and put a layer of basil leaves beneath the top layer of cheese like Carmella does.
The rest is just a shittier variation of lasagna. Seriously you don't need to do manigot or ziti. After lasagna you just have to do the billion variants of spaghetti and then gnocchi, which is the same recipes as spaghetti except with gnocchi.
>>213794690I heard that troons got AIDS...
>>213806093All you taste is the ricotta as its flavor is way strong than mozz and parm and there is way more of it. I hate when the southern wops put it in their lasagna as well.
>>213806251A ricotta and mozzarella mix is superior to pure mozzarella in a lasagna because the ricotta holds the shape of the lasagna better than the mozzarella does alone because it melts. Cottage cheese does the same. It's better than having the lasagna be this sloppy mess. The ricotta helps hold the shape when you cut a slice.

>>213805394Ralphie, Hesh, Tony, Johnny Sack and Carmine were all genuinely intelligent quick thinking guys.
Sil and Paulie had some street smarts but weren't very cunning.
Uncle June was similar in being a really incompetent boss and having poor emotional intelligence but he became an effective advisor and quasi-consigliere.
Bobby and Christopher were idiots.
>>213806636Nope. You're "points" are just bullshit.
>>213806579>criminal autismYou know how a nonviolent smart guy might sit down and work on a painting or something? Tony, despite being real smart, sometimes robs random bikers for a laugh.
Putting himself and his friends in danger because there are some wires that never crossed in his head
>>213806749Nope, the rest of the seasons have those problems as well and issues of stories starting and then them just forgetting about them but season 6 is just wall to wall with them. It was like they wanted to end it on a scorsese style everything is coming up due anxiety ending after everyone went wtf was that bullshit for season 6a but had no understanding of how to do it so they just crammed in as much useless shit that went nowhere or did not matter to make it seem chaotic.

Whats this about singing in ching chong?
>>213802436>junior's singing in chinese, wait what. I recently just watched sopranos, elaborate? Did david chase do some fuckery in this scene. Am i just a brainlet that missed it or what.
>>213794706One of the first things I did when testing chat gpt was have it write flash fiction about tony vs various badguys. I can't remember all the matchups but he had the elder wand by the end of it.
>>213805933Tony was a smart guy, but a bad boss.
I met an extra from the show around 2009ish. At the time I hadn't seen the show and to this day I regret not asking him a million questions. He was in a lot of the funeral scenes. I'm not sure if he had any speaking parts. I forget his name and face but he was about 75ish and lived in the suburbs north of Boston MA, if we have any autists in the thread who may recognize the actor based on this alone I'd like to know his name.

What were the worst moments of Talking Sopranos? For me it was them interviewing a senile Peter Bogdanovich (I think he died not long after) and the interview with a visibly drunk Lorraine Bracco who looked like complete shit. Was also annoyed that they didn't interview Joey Pants (Ralphie) who was pissed with HBO and David Chase because they used his severed head in some promotional PR pieces that apparently his kids saw and upset them. He also mentioned he was annoyed at only finding out he was getting killed off when reading the script. They didn't interview Joseph Gannascoli (Vito) because he and Steve hate eachother. There are probably a few others I don't remember because it's been years since I watched it.
>>213808951oh you dont wanna know!
>>213809316Them not interviewing Lillo Brancato who played Matthew Bevilaqua was unfortunate. He became a crackhead and heroin addict and ended up in prison after an armed robbery that left an off duty cop dead (his friend shot him). Now he's been sober for like a decade, works for a rehab, and posts recovery shit on insta. Would have been a great guest. He presumably hasn't been able to work as an actor since getting out because they're blacklisting him for the cop's death which is gay. Matthew Broderick directly killed two innocent people and no one gives a shit.
>>213794465Another thing is that genetic tests (the ones that arenโt just โyup theyโre totally levantine and from the near east just like the bible says!โ) pretty much all say that Ashkenzi Jews are mostly descended from Romans with some very marginal Near Eastern and Central European admixture, genetically theyโre basically inbred Italians. They got cucked that hard yet they canโt let their โoriginsโ go.

>>213809316>early on when they had poor Edie Falco on and force her to sit through their awkward ad reads back when they did them live, DURING the interview>that Many Saints of Newark shill episode where they interview Literally Who actors about a terrible movie no one remembers, and have to pretend to care and like it>the "Superfan" episodes where they have some faggot like Ol' Butthole Eyes (Pete Davidson) shed brilliant insights such as "my favorite character is Tony Soprano"In hindsight, it's a pretty awful podcast. Getting blackout drunk and shitposting in the Youtube live chat was the best thing about it imo.

>>213796869It was a great performance. I've seen interviews with him he's not unintelligent.
>>213809628This is Elvis, not James Gandolfini you fucking liar
>>213810823>jackie jr wasn't a great idea to base a season around.they had to play catch up (like tony did with feech) after livia fucking died. while i don't think another season of tony vs livia would've been particularly amazing, they clearly had to scramble for ideas. and for what it's worth, i think they did ok
jackie jr's "rise" and downfall is a bit undercooked but there's a lot of scenes with ralph to balance it out. i was fooled into thinking ralph would be the bad guy of the season which was probably chase's intention, so if you fucking hate jackie like everyone else seems to, there's not too much scenes with him looking back
>>213810188It was Bela, quasimodo predicted all a this

>>213798063Where did they get the balls to put this in the show?
Same with the CGI of Tony's mom.
Wasn't this like the biggest, most srs bsns show at the time?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgPpUqoeuQk&list=PLSu7Da-1FjjF_BG_hsfSb2-Asc_9wpZcZ
>>213795241The show's quality always took a downturn whenever they focused on Christopher's foray into showbusiness. It was always too on the nose but they also couldn't fully commit to either lampooning it or sucking Hollywood's dick so it always ended up being a weird, thematically confused compromise. The cleaver shit was probably the best they got out of it.

>>213814506Season 6 was terrible and it was so lazy making cleaver be the reason tony kills chris. At one point chris gets drunk and shows up with a pistol shoot up tony's car and walks into the bing to kill him and tony lets him live. 2 seasons later chris makes a movie and tony thinks the bad boss is him so he makes chris choke on his own blood just after having a kid.
>>213809376Silvio's actor overplayed it but he got him right at least
>>213814692Cleaver's not the main reason though it's just the thing that makes him realize chris will never like him s6 is tony giving up on everyone but his main family
I'm not saying its good but the reasoning behind it works
I always found the therapy sessions interesting because it showed 90% of therapy is basically validating your dysfunctional behaviours and never actually fixing them. Therapy never worked for me, despite numerous appointments, because my problems simply could not be fixed through that medium. Tony is a monster, but he is who he is (and he says this) and that cannot be adjusted through "therapy" because he is so intrinsically flawed and evil he will never change. Melfi realises this in the end
