I don't know if you ever tried the old woman young woman illusion but it's similar in that it guides you in one path (first one on the phone book then the last one, smiling and relaxed then tired posture, the music associated with the passing of time) so you ignore the other signs (still smoking the same cigarette which wouldn't have been possible if she went through the whole list, Selma still smiling and relaxed in the couch). I don't say it's the greatest joke and don't think many do so certainly not everyone, but it's always nice when a joke makes you think and take a closer look, it's concise and fair so it's a good one.
