What's hotter, sweltering hot or piping hot? Like if I order a pipong hot pizza at a pizza restaurant, and it burns my mouth, should I ask for it to be sweltering hot the next time?
If I don't specify the hotness they usually give me a pizza that's just warm, like I can take a bite out of it the second they hand it to me and I don't have to blow on it first, which means it's bad

"sweltering hot" is more like heat over time + humidity and refers to the climate whereas piping hot is like you described, as an adjective for food
they can't really be compared but i guess if you had to "piping hot" is hotter on an abstract scale of hotness
