This is probably the worst movie I've ever seen in a theater.
It should have been a short film. There's like 20 minutes of content and only like 4 scene types but they just keep repeating with no change or increase of tension.
I haven't seen the Herzog film but I'm sure it absolutely mogs this.

Every scene in the movie is:

And this repeats for like 2 hours.

Having him rape those two underaged girls near the beginning was a baffling choice, because from that moment on I had no sympathy for him and was completely checked out of his story.

But the story was extremely boring.
Absolutely nothing happens in this movie.
It's like 90 minutes but it felt like 3 hours.
Like the guys a piece of shit I got it after the first five minutes. Everything after was just hammering that in endlessly. Saying this movie had a "story" is a bit of a stretch.

I keked too hard at this. Anyway, Year of the Dragon is pure kino, you have peak Mickey Rourke, John Lone and Michael Cimino, you can't go wrong with those guys. I just think the ending is too happy for my tastes. I have a theory that they wanted a darker one, probably with the lead dying but they changed for whatever reason they always find to change those things.
