Unironically the hate is forced, it's a mildly funny and entertaining 5/10 that unintentionally functions as a great satire.

that was a little silly but it moved the plot forward so it gets a pass.

When is someone going to adapt the book into a period-accurate book-accurate retro sci-fi movie? It's kino waiting to happen.

It would be cool if they could do it in the style of Sky Captain. That retro style would be perfect for it

This is ass. Soppy drama love story with the shit people actually want to see blurred out in the background. Someone took a shit on the chocolate cake.

As far as Hollywood is concerned, Wells's books are there to be bastardised into present-day allegories like the recent feminist reimagining of The Invisible Man. If they made a War of the Worlds now, the invasion would be a pointed allusion to either Gaza or Ukraine.

There is a independently released period accurate version from 2008 which is based directly off the original story. The characters recite their lines as if they are reading directly from the book. It is 3 hours long.
