I really don't understand why people watch superhero movies. They're like Bollywood slop. If you grew up reading the comic books, ok I get it. But if not you are a complete pedestrian.

The problem isn’t really “superhero fatigue.” The MCU is struggling because its current roster is weak. The biggest names like Captain America, Iron Man and Spider-Man have already been used and all the best plots the hack writers could think of have been done too. On top of that, there is ad financial crisis right now

Relatively speaking, Rambo, Die Hard, Saving Private Ryan, and The Lord of the Rings are all essentially superhero movies.

And it doesn't help that they keep trying to stuff the roster with unlikable girlbosses that only vocal leftists pretend to care about for a few weeks when the show or movie is new. The older films also handled powerscaling better, like when they introduced Thor into the Avengers, they showed Cap and Iron Man holding their own a bit against him, to show that he's powerful, but not so much so that the other heroes are irrelevant. But then along comes Captain Marvel, and they're so obsessed with having a strong woman hero and throw out all that shit and have it so that she's so overpowered that she runs the risk of making other heroes irrelevant, she's just too busy with other things to save the day every time. Yeah that stuff works in the comics, but long time fans of the franchise don't like brand new heroes showing up and saying "sorry sweetie, but I kinda make the cast you've grown to love look weak and redundant"

Eh, not really. It's just that Hollywood needs to readjust their budgets for any superhero project to make any money.
The international scene no longer cares about the concept of superheroes, and the MCU has lost most of its steam.
The DCU has potential to be a decently successful franchise domestically if they slash their budgets by half or more.

The main reason why the superhero film isn't dead yet is because, still, nothing else reliably preforms as well as a superhero film.
Original movies tend to bomb, and there's no other trend that Hollywood is on at the moment.
So they'll probably stick to superhero movies for at least the rest of this decade

2025 Top 10 worldwide box office (not in order)

1. Avatar
2. Chinese cartoon
3. Minecraft
4. Lilo&Stitch
5. Zootopia
6. Jurassic
7. HTTYD
8. Wicked
9. F1
10. Japanese cartoon

It's not the 2010s anymore, Planet Earth has moved on from capeslop, and movie studios (and 50-year-old pop culture youtubers who read the box office wrong all year) need to adapt or die

I only watch the movies based off of the characters I already like. So Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Deadpool.
I'm still holding out for a Squirrel Girl/Great Lakes Avengers movie.

The MCU started out with a weak roster, though.
The only particularly well known characters Disney still had the rights to were Captain America and the Hulk. Back before 2008 when you said Iron Man, most people thought you were referring to the Black Sabbath song
