Yeah, that's one thing I've began to notice and it's hard not to once you're aware how many productions are guilty of this. I think it's one of the reasons why a lot of modern movies/shows have that uncanny plastic-y feel to them.

While yes Harry's clothing is more appropriate for the 90's than the movies, and i appreciate if they try to be more faithful to the books by keeping them in the 90's,i don't think it's a good idea because it looks stupid for this. Harry grew up in a strict old fashioned household, i don't feel like Petunia and Wernon would dress Dudley like the latest fashion and neither would Harry since his clothes were hand me downs.
You could argue they would do it just so Dudley wouldn't stand out at school, but i don't believe it.
It's not a time period accuracy that makes the product any better
