This could actually work

technically for a few minutes till you use up all the oxygen and all thats left is carbon dioxide(what you exhale)
you would also need enough weight to stay heavy enough to walk on the seabed which is not easy due to our bodys and the air in that upside down boat.

This would have worked with lead boots

It's a magic boat, they have skeletons without tendons swinging swords and a tentacle fetishist but a boat below water is where you draw the line at realism

In theory yes, but your boat would effectively need to be made out of lead to be heavy enough to weigh down a massive air pocket that size. Then balencing saidnair pocket would be difficult.

Physically possible but insanley impractical. I give them a pass for artistic license tho.

but it is realistic but you need enough weight to make it happen
whats unrealistic is they prolly were walking more then a few minutes so the oxygen would have run out

Wouldn't you just float up? I feel like getting the boat down there would be the hard part. I guess you could put rocks in your pockets or something.

We should ask the eggheads over at /sci/, they're smart

Air has no weight, idiot. Do you gain weight every time you inhale?

Only if a) the boat was completely sealed and b) if you could hold down the pressure of the air pulling it upwards without it tilting at all

if they farted they could greatly enrich that air with onions and eggs

If I recall the mythbusters did this and figured out that you'd need like 2,000 pounds of weight to keep the boat under.

On the topic of impractical underwater air pockets I was reminded of this movie I caught briefly once where people live in an underwater house and I think it's a comfy house. Maybe if you built it by a steep bank and had a walkable tunnel to dry land so you didn't have to swim out every time

If that boat holds 300 liters of air and they are 30 ft under water the buoyant force pulling the boat up would be around 40,000 newtons, or just shy of 9000 lbs. at an average weight of 180 lbs they would need 50 men just to counteract the upward force, and that’s assuming the system is in a vacuum. Because the human body is naturally buoyant they would actually need far more.

I've tried this in a swimming pool and
1. You can't fight the buoyancy of that much air
2. 2 people burn through the oxygen in that small space very quickly.

What's that? A bit of an attitude? I know for a fact you wouldnt talk like that to my face. For a fact. Youd get a straight POW just like that. Yeah? You want more? P-P-P-POW. Watch yourself. Id be careful if i were you. To be continued. Screencap this.

He's right, though. The force of buoyancy is not the same as "weight", by which you meant gravity acting on mass. Next time don't confuse yourself with grade school physics.

What if they put a small hole in the boat at the top, so it's small enough it won't let in water to fast so they can keep their air bubble going, but it will release some pressure and let them keep carrying the boat while they walk along the bottom.

Or it doesn't show it but what if they attached weights enough that it counters the buoyancy but they are not heavy enough for it to go all the way to the bottom of the ocean. Like they calculated the right balance.
