i liked how Alien explored nature's indifference to human ethics, morality, etc.
i liked how Aliens explored how humanity tries to tame nature
great spectacle, but still had depth that makes it worth rewatching and thinking about

can't really see why the other sequels exist besides "lol more aliuns", and only serve to dilute what made the first two special.

Finally return to the time period fans loved (Aliens), finally have the xenomorphs get to Earth, finally get xenormorph biotechnology working, finally get Newt aged up into an adult. Would have been better than the last thirty years of shitty Alien movies all together

Everybody always says "thank God it didn't happen because it would have been shit". But then the average quality of the franchise posts-Prometheus has been absolute fucking trash. So I'm thoroughly convinced that even a mid Blomkamp product would have been better than Covenant, Romulus, and Earth.

If you'd been paying attention to the history of Blomkamp films, you'd know he's a one-trick pony whose uppermost fixation as a director is to remake District 9 again and again. His Aliens film would have ended with the protagonist fighting an alien while wearing an exosuit, not because of his enthusiasm for obscure franchise lore, but because that is how District 9 ended.
