i dont think thats entirely accurate, their motivations varied throughout the ranks. i think caesar was a true believer in the legion's ethos, even if he was somewhat of a hypocrite about using medicine and technology for his own benefits. same of some of his lieutenants like vulpes. the more brutal "might makes right" ethos was championed by lanius and probably most of the lower ranking legionnaires who werent so deep thinking. not even a legionfag btw
