Looking back I think it ruined Disney (which was pretty much their goal). It was hard to take sincere Disney films seriously after that. Disney even joined in on bashing themselves later starting with Enchanted.

I've never liked the first film that much, even as a child I found it boring and a bit plain to look at. The second movie is kino forever.
