I grew up loving horror. Watched all the Universal Monster movies with my mom, then all the Hammer equivalents. Absolutely adored Alien and Evil Dead. But for some reason, I am incapable of watching horror in theaters these days without closing my eyes when a jump scare is coming. How do I get over this? I just got out of Weapons, and even though there were only two or three jump scares, I had to close my eyes in the lead up. I feel like my brain is fucking broken and it's making me miserable because I swear I like the genre. I'm able to watch Eggers horror just fine, but the less artistic horror has me avoiding looking most of the time. What do?
