It did. My elementary school had a square dancing unit in gym class during the winter since we couldn't go outside. The girl I was typically paired up with since we got to choose partners was out sick, and to the surprise of no one, the one black girl in class didn't have a partner. We got stuck together and I put up a fight about it because she reeked of cat urine and I didn't want to hold her hand or be near her. Well that upset her and I got yelled at by the gym teacher and marched down to the office. Unlucky for me, the principal decided right there I was a huge bigot and reamed me out about racism and since it was January he went on a tirade about MLK and made me do a book report over the weekend to present to him in his office Monday morning.
