I finally watched season 1 (got the dvds from my library). Pretty good overall but I still can't explain why everyone went apeshit crazy over it, and the stupid teen romance subplots were just bad. The Crackstone mystery was the best part, along with some great casting (Christina Ricci was a nice touch, as was Gwendolyn Christie and her big milf booty as the school principal).

It's okay for it's target (tween girls probably). Is okay if you find the actresses attractive (they aren't actual kids, they are in their early 20's). Complaining about it or calling it slop is what is actually cringe considering what the show actually is.
