It's not that exciting. But it IS an alien (foreign) force behind this.

Maybe they didn't start these subversive trends. Maybe they didn't even want to at first. But they're here now, pouring oil onto the fire. Exploiting the chink in the armor. Accelerating, if you will.
Why? China has "soft power deficiency" and they know it. The stage has been set by the US since the Cold War and they dictate what's cool and what isn't. Chinese martial arts were cool and fun (to a controlled degree) in the 80s and 90s when Sino-Soviet split occurred and Nixon/Kissinger capitalized on it. Fast forward a decade and everything Chinese was cringe at the drop of a hat. China knows they can't compete on this uneven terrain, so they plan to level it. While Russians invest into right wing podcast grifters, China invests into opposing baizuo groups. Dividing before the conquest. Prepping the ground for an invasion. Softening the target, in military jargon. They funded wokeslop in Hollywood and immediately banned it from their country. Like handing someone a grenade in the elevator and closing the door. It's modern iconoclast. Franchises ruined, stories inverted, actors bogged. Even happened to video games.
They think Hollywood dictated the cool and acceptable standards. And they think by tearing it apart from the inside they can promote their own messages. But they can't do it outright. It would be too obvious and they'd get shut down on sight. So they went backdoor. This is where their cloak and dagger tactic comes in - Kpop.
Korean media is actually restricted in China. They pulled a Hollywood ban on them first but it was much more painful since China is a huge market for Korea. Now they're infiltrating the Kindustry and dangling the ban lift as blackmail. They're partially allowed to operate in China but they need to open joint ventures with Chinese firms. This isn't a new phenomenon, they did it with car and tech industries first.
