The kid lived and was in no actual danger, he was given a controlled dose to just get sick. Why do people blow it out of proportion so much? Not like he did it for fun, either. Both Walt and Jesse literally fucking murdered Gale, who was by and large a decent person, for no reason other than to save their own hides from the very same drug dealer, but making a kid sick is crossing a line?
