I think they waited too long to put Scarlett Johansson in this role because she was kind of fat but overall the movie is really good and captures the feeling of the original ghost in the shells

It was more the feeling I'd expect from an adaptation of Perfect Dark. It didn't give me the dreamy GITS vibe at all.

The only solution that exists these days I'm aware of that you can go out and pick up off the shelf anywhere in the country is watching it on a vr headset. The quest 3 is probably the best bang for your buck in that regard. The only real issue I have with it is it's hard to find sources of good high bitrate rips of 3d movies. Almost all the ones you can find on generalist trackers are halfsbs rips so no matter how good your headset is you're going to get some shimmer and weird fuzzing artifacts from the image being horizontally upscaled before being independently projected into each eye.

Time has nothing to do with fat kek. It's so funng how they tricked you into believing "oh no, I'm older, therefore fatter, and nothing can be done about it oh well!"

It's a pretty decent blockbuster in an age of dogshit. Enjoyed it well enough when I saw it in the theater, and when I went to look at discussion about the film, it was all just retards saying how it wasn't good compared to the anime. What's nice is that the film keeps it simple, and sticks to a smaller scale. Where it ends is usually the halfway mark in most movies made nowadays, where you'd have to suffer through an escalation of meaningless CGI animated non-sense. GITS keeps it tight, and sticks to the landing. Nothing amazing, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better blockbuster from the 2010's (although there are some).

3D projectors are still available. There is also some Chinese brand that apparently did some 3DTVs. It's definitely worth having.

I recomend The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Flesh for Frankenstein over modern slop.

The movie has the plot unlike style over substance tranime. It makes tranime fans mad, which is also a plus.

i thought GITS was just like, something about philosophical questions like, when does the human body end and where does consciousness begin

The song in the trailer elite but the movie failed to incorporate the philosophical musings that defined the animated film. It was a simplification of a much more complex political thriller.

The fact that it's simple is a negative critique against it. You could call it something else instead of gliding by on the name of the franchise. Upgrade was a decent sci-fi but it wouldn't be gits even though it captures the spirit better than this film. We want complex and cerebral musings.

They were simply people that didn't know anything about the source material or even watched the movie since it gives an in universe justification.

It's easily among the greatest sci-fi movies, but it's been buried now.

Can't bring myself to watch the director's next movie about an anti-terrorist operation with an interpretative dance portion in it.

This movie is fucking garbage. Truly awful, just bad filmmaking, let alone botching a masterpiece.
