The Return
Is it a worthy sequel? What did you think of it? Some of the digital footage and manipulation seems off kilter but the general aesthetic is good. What did you think of evil Dale Cooper? It shocked audiences when it first came out.

it's fantastic. it's the best part of the whole series imo, although I can understand why others don't feel the same way.

Not to sound like that one Rick and Morty copypasta but you need to watch a lot of Lynch's stuff to understand the themes he's going for with S3

Retards who didn't like the best parts of the original series and just wanted more Northern Exposure.
I wasn't one of those fags either. It was the spiritual shit that hooked me.

The original was low end mystery box dog shit, so literally anything would be a "worthy" sequel. They should have gotten JJ to make it, Lynch and Troon Geeks taught him everything he knows.

There's nothing to understand. Lynch was a visual artist. He just threw shit on the screen that he thought looked cool. Half the shit in S3 has anything to do with anything, the dwarf running around stabbing people with an icepick, one-one-nine!, etc.

Luckily for Lynch we have a horde of reddit people who desperately try to make some story arc and greater mythology out of his randomness.

We live inside a dream. That's the only story line.

S3 is Lynch forcing his horrible musical taste on the audience while trying too hard to be le ultimate kino experimentalist, eg. in the first episode: why shoving that Mercedes close-up (see: product placement) on everyone's face? Gooby pls

S1 and 2 had some poetry in it. 3 is just a "let's talk about me and my genius" stunt

It's a perfect sequel because it is a sequel not a ""revival.""

S3 is largely an epic troll, and on that level it succeeds.

He was a Magician but a low level one, even lower than Coop. TP was just attracting all sorts of parasites with all its Garmonbozia (Pain and Suffering)

This is the result of Laura Palmer's death years later. Twin Peaks went from being a quaint small town with some darkness to a town completely overrun by the darkness.

I love it even more than the original show. I love the insane sprawl and depressing, old man's view of humanity. I don't care about the goofy FX, editing, or the poor integration of classic characters into the story. I wanted something new and different and it was way beyond my expectations.

Absolute kino.

Also the ending of the Return is Laura waking up to her rape in FWWM. They have the same dual layered scream and I can't think of another scene where it takes place.

Coop saying "What year is this?" is what breaks down her dream world (that Judy put her into as a trap for Coop?).

The only thing I can't place is the sound clip of Sarah Palmer calling for Laura the morning after she was killed. Laura screamed after that, but she would never have heard that.
