I think hitting your 50s like that really fucks up your brain. you lose touch with things and sort of check out of reality in a way. also at that age you're supposed to be seeing the world through your kids eyes half the time and trying to build the world into a better future for them.

Id much prefer jay talking about shuddershit enthusiastically or mike talking about ghost adventures to their sort of not interest in generic movies. "We're too cool to watch Minecraft but we still want to talk about it" was fucking gay, you were already in the theater you niggers, just finish it. Finish it and talk about it or don't fucking bring it up. You could've filmed 3 segments of jay reviewing shuddershit instead.

Aside from the Acolyte bit, this video was just going over old ground and stating the obvious issues with modern Star Wars. This didn't need to be a Plinkett video, as though it's an extraordinary occasion and Mike has come to us with new insights of such blistering importance they warrant his wearing the ceremonial mask. He could have tossed out these opinions elsewhere. He has already made some of these points on his other shows.

absolutely embarrassing. He killed starwars and is now coping about that fact. Trying to draw tenuous parallels with the acolyte and the prequels to say a re-evaluation is inevitable even if its shit, completely ignoring the fact that the Disney trilogy is full of much bigger similarities to the original trilogy and will never be re-evaluated.
These fucking retarded boomers know the love of the prequels is based on nostalgia but they will never acknowledge its exactly the same for them and their own nostalgia for the OT.

I think its more of a passive aggressive dig at millennials who like and "re-evaluated" the prequels, he's talking from the perspective of a hypothetical future gen alpha fan who wont exist but he needs them to. He wants to absolve himself of his own guilt for being a dunning kruger retard that advocated for corporate slop because he couldn't let go of his own nostalgia.

Its pretty simple. His theory is that zoomies = woke, acolyte is a zoomie show and that's why everyone hates it, therefore 15 years from now all the grown up gen alpha zoomies will be talking bout how much they love it, just like millennials with the prequels.
This is a stupid point that ignores the fact that woke was corporate gen x propaganda that nobody likes. He's pushing for it hard because he wants people to believe they are making the same "unavoidable" generational mistake as he did when they shit on the acolyte.

For it to be looked upon in 15 years more fondly, it would have to mean that something exponentially more shitty was made that makes people think they used to have it really good and just didn't realize it. But I think if we get even worse than we are now, Disney will lose too much money to keep doing this, meaning they'll either stop or they'll find some way to make a real effort to produce something genuine okay enough to please general audiences, which will make everyone look back and go

True.
>Yโknow if you stand back and look at this movie as a whole, it just comes off to the viewer as some kind of assembly line production devoid of any emotional involvement by anyone. A film that coldly exploits the works of craftsmen and artists in a sterile, computer controlled environment resulting in a series of colourful, crisp images that are played in a sequence. I do understand that big movies like this are basically a business; however, I would say that most movies โ not all โ but most movies come from some kind of creative spark somewhere.
>So do the prequels basically expose Lucas as being a shallow, emotionless business man? Iโll let YOU decideโฆ But the answerโs yes.

One thing regarding the idea of the on-screen timer is that Paul Hirsch claims he came up with it unfortunately his book is heavily biased attributing a ton of ideas to himself, misremembering and misquoting himself, and probably making over the top scenarios like George allegedly thanking him for "saving the movie" during the premier of TFA(this is all brought up in Nerdonymous's video).
>It soon became clear that there really wasn't enough material yet to create the tension that would make the end battle scene fully satisfying. I thought we needed more shots to cut back to that would show that the Death Star was about to blow up the planet. The new material would serve as a clock, dramatizing that time was running out.
A Long Time Ago in a Cutting Room Far, Far Away, no idea which page since I only have a digital version but it is in the Star Wars chapter.
So I guess we can't know it right now, it could have been either him or Richard or Marcia or George or even someone else entirely like Dan O'Bannon as another anon wrote.

He's twisting himself in a pretzel to avoid responsibility for being an embarrassing manbaby about the prequels. He finally concedes that starwars was always for kids and that to keep it alive it has to skew young and so ends up being for a different generation.
After admitting that he has to make a further point or else he has to admit he was crying about children's media as a grown man, he needs you to believe you are doing the same thing with the acolyte.
The difference is millennials never complained about the existence of a new generation of starwars media based on the fact that it was for kids. They complained that it was creatively bankrupt, that it was soulless corporate media and that it was woke propaganda. Every millennial admitted the prequels were kids media that they had nostalgia for.

What about that was not specific enough, you retarded faggot? Andor being good is PRECICESLY what ruined the entirety of SW Disney slop for him and any future product they'll make. You can argue that's not an original thought necessarily because others have expressed a similar reaction, but that exact show and that exact reaction to it is absolutely what caused him to make this video. It was one thing to wave at vague imaginations at what might've been were SW given to competent writers, but Andor's existence has absolutely flipped things upside down by giving everyone who wanted it a taste of competently written Star Wars, making everything Disney makes before and after it a dozen times worse by finally having a standard for what competently written SW might've been like. Its existence ABSOLUTELY ruins things because now there's a standard to compare to they absolutely won't ever replicate.

This lie again. Come on, anon, do better. The originals were for the entire family. Yes, Lucas wanted to please kids, but he trotted out the idea that all of it was for kids and none of it was for adults when he was pilloried for the more juvenile moments in the prequels, such as Jar Jar stepping in literal poop. Mike's correct in that the originals never went too far like that, although it is fun to read of anons seething over Chewbacca giving the Tarzan yell in RotJ.
That was Lucas's way of saying: "don't take this too seriously", everybody. Some got the memo, some didn't. Disney didn't.

Nope, he's on record in a newspaper interview saying it was for 11-12 year old kids during the release of the OT. You dont want to believe this is true because you cant accept what the millennials always did, that the only reason you give a shit is nostalgia for your own childhood.
I went back and watched the OT for the first time as an adult, the films are shit and stupid in all the same ways as the prequel trilogy. I didn't like them because i had no nostalgia for them and I probably wouldn't have liked the prequels had I watched them as an adult. public. It was only in the spring of 1977, shortly before the film's release, that Lucas finally

come on boomer, its fucking embarrassing that after all these years you're still completely unable to admit that starwars was always for kids, despite the creator telling you over and over and over, as far back as 1977. Man babies also paid to watch the prequels too, I'm sure many went to see the OT just for the special effects. None of this changes the fact that the story, the themes, the level of artistic ambition was for a child and that didn't change for the prequels, you did. This is why you and mike will always look like retarded cry-babies to every subsequent generation.
Im not pissed that starwars is dead for my own sake, I'm pissed that the kids of millennials wont have their own starwars because you couldn't grow up.

Acolyte did something special though - it is a work of a writer whose morals stand in complete opposition to 99% of humanity. It is a fascinating example.

kek, your argument is that it wasn't for kids because he wanted it to be for 12 year olds instead of a G rating. You're stretching so hard. At best the OT was a Disney esque film for parents to watch with their kids. What kind of 35-40+ year old man is on the internet making 5+ hour critiques of new disney films while claiming the director ruined their lives? A fucking embarrassing man baby.
There's nothing in the OT that isn't for a 12 year old boy, the average shonen anime for kids has more "adult" shit in it. What's even more embarrassing is that when the prequels tried to be a little more sophisticated with its themes these old ass men were complaining that it was too boring.

To save face he has to smuggle in the sentiment within a series of jokes and bits so he has plausible deniability when called out on it.

They did. He changed it. To answer your question, Lucas was told by the MPAA that he was getting "G" so he specifically created the charred skeleton scene to bump it up because he wanted to avoid the perception that it was a Disney/children's film. He also added hits to troopers and officers, then later reneged on that decision in 1997 and took them out. All of that, save for the walrusman head (of which documentation is lost to time) it's all well documented in videos and numerous books, like The Annotated Screenplays.

Young people understand instinctively that sex is one of the most important things for keeping the species healthy.
I think they can sense the artificial imposition of abrahamic sexual repression on culture and in their spirits they rebel against this.
Mike joked about the mere reproductive act of sex between Anakin and Padme as being "icky" and "something that won't age well" - but it's very clear he's jewish and legitimately angry about the depiction of white people having children in a popular film.

you really believe that a man puts a giant yeti space pilot in his films, with ewoks, a samurai wizard gremlin, lazer swords, spaceships, robots chasing a princess and thinks he's making a film for an adult? This is all coping from people who cant accept an obvious reality. 2001 was a scifi film from that era for adults, lucas isn't a retard, he knew what he was making.

The opposite of what I said. I said fans of Star Wars were generally made when they were young. Plenty of people like the films without being full on fans. Again, my boomer parents liked the movies in theaters, and then moved on with their lives. They weren't awaiting the next entry in the series. They didn't watch the prequels, they never watched the Disney sequels.

Prevaricating? Zoomer, put down the thesaurus. My position on the debate whether Star Wars is for kids or not is that I disagree with the notion - Star Wars is for broad audiences. The funny thing about those scenes is that according to Screen Superstar magazine #8, "Star Wars: the Full Story," 1977 they were cut because of maximum audience turnover:
"His editors, including his wife, Marcia (Lucas' daughters had earlier
appeared in the film as Jawas), had put together a rough cut. With
Lucas they trimmed it down to preview size. And the previews were very
successful. Excitement spread at Twentieth, and through the movie
colonyโLucas had a winner!
But winner or not, Lucas still wasn't entirely satisfied. The
film ran for over two hours (123 minutes), and Lucas wanted maximum
audience turnover. Thus the film had to be UNDER two hours, so back
went Lucas and the editors, and six minutes of Biggs Darklighter,
Luke's boyhood pal and fellow rebel pilot, were trashed. The film was
finished."
But then in The Making of Star Wars George decided to get rid of them because he never liked them. I mean, it could be a combination of the two.

One thing George is bashed for sometimes, but he's innocent is this: In a Rolling Stone interview of 2005/06/02 Issue 975 he said:
>How did you get the name Darth Vader?
>"Darth" is a variation of dark. And
>"Vader" is a variation of father. So it's basically >Dark Father.
A guy on Quora said:
>โDarkโ in German is Dunkel. Father in German is Vater.
>So if the characterโs name was Dunkel Vater, then it would mean โDark Father.โ
>How about Dutch? Well, in Dutch, Dark is Donker, and father is, in fact, โVader,โ but itโs pronounced very, very differently; the word for โfatherโ in Dutch, while spelled V-a-d-e-r, is pronounced in a way that roughly rhymes with English โfatherโ. Itโs not Vay-der, itโs Vaah-der.
In page 172 of The Making of Star Wars he says:
>"That's just another one of those things that came out of thin air. It sort of appeared in my head one day. I had lots of Darth this and Darth that, and Dark Lord of the Sith. The early name was actually Dark Water. Then I added lots of last names, Vaders and Wilsons and Smiths, and I just came up with the combination of Darth and Vader."
In a way George is correct, if you pronounce Vader as in Dutch you get Darth Father. And in another source which I can't remember right now he says Darth is a combination of Dark and Death, and that's how you get Dark Father so he probably was misremembering and mixing his memories. This might also be the reason why he doesn't care about the pronunciation of the characters.

I've read of that as well. Might be in The Annotated Screenplays.

In the note where Dark Water is written, it also has the following variations:
Dark Invader
Death Water
Death Invader
The Invader part might be a reference to the Vietnam war.
