they don't know what they're talking about. a few years ago most people on the internet didn't know anything about the box office. then some youtubers started regurgitating rough estimates they read in decades old business journals. then all the sudden everyone on the internet became a box office expert.
the truth is not a single marketing budget has ever been made public
you are kind of right about one thing. The production budget for Superman 2025 was enormous. Over 360 million dollars. This number was found on an application for a tax credit filed on behalf of warner brothers. Of course DCU fans immediately claimed it was false. Unfortunately for them an identical number was published in an Ohio business journal. That was the state where WB filed their tax credit claim.
So yeah. Superman cost of ton of money and WB lied about actual cost of production. But the problem is that Disney does the same thing. In a few years somebody will find tax documents for Fantastic 4. That's when we'll know the real production budget.
