Except not. Monica and Rachel were friends in high school. Ross and Chandler were friends in college. Ross and Monica are siblings. Joey and Phoebe joined the group by becoming roommates with Chandler and Monica respectively (Joey just answered Chandler's ad, Phoebe was probably something similar).
