The match up is like where half the interest lays and honestly Fincher needs to nail this, he hasn't made a great movie in 10 years.

Tarantino wrote a like ten hour long movie he planned to break into multiple parts set in the OUATIH universe and shopped it around but all the studios turned him down since it probably would cost $200M and they probably wouldn't have been able to get DiCaprio back (one of the segments was intended to be a full length Rick Dalton movie directed by Cliff.) so now he's breaking it into pieces and giving them to other directors, it looks like

There are dark underbellies of Hollywood that Quentin won't even hint at...or else he might suffer a sudden drug overdose or even worse a humiliating auto asphyxiation death.

Huh, this is actually a cool idea if he does more after The Adventures of Cliff Booth. Seeing different directors play around with these characters and themes.
Tangentially - I think The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth is a better title.

Spielberg and Lucas? But even then, Spielberg directed the first Indy film. I can think of big directors doing sequels to other big directors films, like Scorsese with The Color Of Money, but the original director and writer weren't involved.

It's not lifting stuff from his podcast. I don't think you get it. These are his characters and he knows their lives back to front, birth to death. He wrote a whole fake non-fiction book just about Rick. He's been writing these guys for over a decade. The movie is going to just be showing us shit he already "knows" about them.
