I'd say the bigger drive is how shit streaming services are now.
Every fucking service has like 1 or 2 decent things to watch on it (that aren't already decades old). You have to pay for multiple services just to get the 4 things you want to watch, and now they are even getting ads in there too.
Also a lot of the shit Netflix in particular funds is blatant propaganda or made for drama farming. I really don't feel bad about pirating their shit, assuming I'd want to see it.

How can they be surprised when you're able to get a superior experience as a viewer when you pirate?
They continually gimp their services, lock things behind additional paywalls, restrict their library or outright censor or bury certain things, subject you to terrible content with perverted and inaccurate algorithms, inject ads and even with all the increasingly terrible things implemented to their service they have the audacity to increase prices. After all that they're seriously surprised that more people want to pirate instead?

My biggest issue is quality, Netflix compresses their movies beyond recognition, both in terms of sound and picture quality. Watching a couple scenes of Dunkirk on a remuxed UHD file and then the Netflix version was an eye-opener.

If they ever crack down on piracy I'd sooner start buying physical disks than subscribe to streaming when 4K streaming looks worse than a 1080p BluRay while sounding like a wet fart.

I honestly believe that any movie worth watching is worth paying for in the theater experience. If it's shit then it's not even worth stealing. The only time I see file-sharing aka "piracy" as something I can rationalize is when seeking rare shit that's just not easily available. And thanks to a million streaming sites, that's a very rare case.

We're still under the effects of Bidenomics. It hasn't even been a year, and ecomomic recovery takes times. The worst part is food. We keep having "natural" virus outbreaks that cut down the food supply after the WEF declared that too much farting livestock is bad for the environment, counties keep siezing prime farm land to turn into windfarms and solar farms, and globalists keep on importing more mouths to feed to increase the demand against a shrinking supply.

They basically self-sabotaged the whole industry over about maybe 2% if that of their potential consumerbase. Moreover they saw lost revenues where there were none because a large majority of people would never have bought certain albums or movies at retail but were happy to experiment with their tastes when there was nothing to lose. If anything the 'try before you buy' nature of this greener subset of 'pirates' had potential to expand fanbases further down the line.

Now their 'victory' is giving everything away for pennies on the dollar and they have no budgets to produce anything in ilk of yore.

No one 20 years ago who was stuck in traffic on his way home to his $120,000 2-story house said "let's fix the traffic by adding millions more cars to the road, and let's make this nice house unaffordable by bringing in millions of people to bid up the demand and price." And they sure as shit didn't give you permission to do just that, either.

3rd-world poverty levels would fall overnight with responsible birthrates. That's a fact. Constantly keeping the population above the ability of resources to catch up guarantees total poverty. And no one gave you permission to "solve it" by dumping it onto other countries and force other people to bear the expense. But that's your one-sided narrative to put all burdens on what WE have to do to accomodate the bullshit instead of what THEY have to do to stop being a fucking problem.

the honest to god truth is that the video game analogy won't work. movies are 90-180 minutes of entertainment on average. if we follow steam metrics for what an appropriate price for this time is, you'd pay about 2 or 3 bucks. a film that needs to make $500 million for profit would need to sell a billion copies (since the service would take a profit). in other words, hollywood blockbusters would need to service 20% of the population just to break even, which is obviously never happening.

however i can see a service similar to steam working for indie films.

I'm going to throw my two cents in here since no one has corrected you yet.

I work for a company that sells pool chemicals/pumps/filters/etc, directly to big businesses in a major city in the south. I mainly work with investment firms, hotels, and apartment complexes. More than half the properties are empty, the guys who upkeep the pools for the houses say most of them never see one person in them for months to years at a time, and even then, they may have them as Airbnb for a few months.

Birthrate means nothing to the cost of homes/housing when it's not even close to being affected by it. It is currently a buyer's market where the sellers refuse to accept the price the house is worth for most buyers and opt to sell to an investment firm that can afford to sit on a vacant property.

And on the subject of food cost, population also means nothing as well, since companies are more than happy to throw away close to 16 billion pounds of food. We produce so much food that the cost should be much lower for the consumer, but "bing bing wahoo line must always go up".

So in short, no immigration doesn't raise cost to the levels we have now, greed does.

Vacant doesn't mean - house that's perfectly ready to move in but is kept off the market by a greedy capitalist. It means:

They are simply charging too much for shit services. If they just lent you rent movies for 1 or 2 dollars on google or wherever in HD and maybe charged another buck for 2/4K it wouldn't matter. That sounds like too little, but that's because you have dog shit executives who can't manage an industry. As an example, that new Superman movie cost 300mil. Movies should now be WAY cheaper to make, not just because of improved technology but what should be hugely streamlined practices. It should be a third of that price, if that.

Shit, even just make it a staggered release 5 bucks for first few months, and then 2 bucks.

It’s not even cost. Streaming was good because it was convenient and had what you wanted. Now you have to search for which streaming service your film or series is in and hope that it’s even on streaming. If you’re watching a series, the episodes will be spread across the hundreds of streaming services, some more obscure than others. This sums it up well

then the cable networks saw the writing on the wall that nobody wants to watch their retarded ad-filled AIDS bullshit so instead of reflecting and adapting to the audience tastes they strongarmed their way into the streaming world, every single one of them, and stripped all their shows from Netflix and Hulu so to be able to watch what you used to be able to watch now you need to pay a subscription to each of these cable networks, turning streaming into just cable 2

I try to play nice and let Youtube's ads play to support content creators, if I have it on as background noise I let the hour long ads play out. Everytime I use youtube without adblock though, it sarts FUCKING WITH ME. First it randomly AI voice dub a carribbeanpot video I was watching into Japanese, and yesterday it demanded that I login to prove I'm not a bot, this after I clicked through a lot of crappy Hollywood crap with AI bot comments. I left, watched Tubi on Chrome, and 12 hours later Youtube magically decide I'm not a bot again -- I just downloaded a few music videos and then left, sick of it.

As for Tubi, it used to be great, I hated autoplay but at least it lets the end credits finish playing, and there there is a pause of around 9 minutes before going onto the next movie, now it skip the end credits, sometimes the end scene. The ads also got more intrusive, much louder, when I click to pause it instead try to take me to another website. Now that I'm not sure if actors even gt residuals, I'm using Adblock.

moviejoy got blocked from where I am, there i still internet archive, and I CAN Read A Book.

Digital broadcast is underrated; only downside is poor signal has atrocious quality compared to analog broadcasts; with analog poor signal would get fuzzy picture and sound might have some noise in it, but poor signal on digital causes tearing, pixelization, and audio cutting that makes it insufferable. Too bad a lot of new TVs are not adapted for broadcast and have no signal meter functions or anything like that because they are expected to be always on the wifi internet streaming pieces of phone home shit like every other consumer electronic in the modern age.

All media companies have to do is make a centralized hub where customers can watch whatever they want and profit from unobtrusive ads go to whoever owns the video. But instead every single media company needs a streaming service, they train customers to never want to see ads, and as a result the whole model is unsustainable and will likely just become "cable but on the internet".

I tried another episode of the same series and same ear pain. It got worse as the episode got on, the youtube copy is less bad, but I couldn't listen past 4 minutes, and comments are turned off.

I notice the musicians who are loudest about anti-piracy actually have shitty music -- it's like they knew people judged their stuff isn't worth paying for. Likewise, the 'writers' most anti-fanficiton, Anne Rice and George RR Martin, either butchered the series that made them famous or couldn't fucking finish.

A long while ago I was listening to synthwave an I loved the soundtrack to Drive (2011), downloaded it, and ended up buying the movie...there it sat in its wrapped DVD till tubi has it and I finally watched the film of the soundtrack, very good.
I do have a DVD player but it's just such a pain to dig it up I ended watching a lot of my faves on pirate sites even though I have the DVDs: Lord of the Rings, Pirates of Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, First Blood (Rambo).

Blockbuster were one of the worst things to happen to the industry. Whether it was censoring movies or just the fact they had garbage content, because they would focus on 50 copies of the latest slop and leave no room for range. The industry couldn't resist the allure though, because you were guaranteed huge returns on your tentpole slop because every franchise would auto-order a dozen copies of it. No competing with smaller DTV companies going region to region peddling traditional VHS content like horror or action films. It was the reason 80's horror slop got replaced by an endless stream of Disney animated sequels and indie studios had to be purchased by, and shape their content to, mega corps, so they could get into the blockbuster pipeline (since blockbuster killed so many real video stores). Them being killed by Netflix is one of the great poetic justices of the film industry.

That's not how it works though, you can't normally capture the screen because of drm and even if you could, capturing video is inefficient as fuck, scene groups break the drm and copy the video file or encode it onto a more common format wich is infinitely faster than capturing.

Despite Jewish attempts to corner the internet the way they corner everything else it remains the freest market on earth. Which explains why new laws are coming in to restrict it. For all of the "smarts" Jews have, they can never win unless the deck is heavily, heavily stacked.

Hollywood is greedy to a fault. Hell, Gabe's perspective itself is rare enough in the video game industry. That kind of new age thinking won't catch on for streaming thankfully, and people will pirate movies/TV shows as usual.

>Piracy was always more driven by convenience than avarice
Underrated and true. People will pay even high amounts if the user experience is easy, pleasant, and cohesive. They pirate because, despite ever rising prices, the experience deteriorates, fragments, and gets more difficult or pain-in-the-ass.
