The movie did quite well for a superhero film in 2025, but the days of any random capeshit making close to, or over, a billion dollars are over.
I mean even 2022's The Batman only did like 600 mil. This is just how things are now.
Though I think WB probably expected to lose money on Superman, and they seem to be okay with it, given that the film wasn't just meant to make money, it was meant to help repair the brand (both of DC movies and Superman as a character) and get their cinematic universe's foot in the door. Which it did succeed at.
If WB doesn't freak out and sabotage themselves when Supergirl inevitably underperforms, they could end up becoming a replacement for the MCU to various manchildren and 'quirky' girls who want in on the next big crossover dopamine rush.
I think a Justice League film made after a successful Superman sequel and Batman and Wonder Woman movie could even go as high as 800 million.
